Howdy Folks,

God I always feel awful for not blogging :(

College has been absolutly hectic lately, my course is run on C/A

aswel as exams so I had tons of assignments to finish before Christmas.

I am sorry about neglecting this blog, but I am working on something and I will have a post on it comin up soon :) It was this time last year when I posted my very first video - dawwwh! :)

My lovely college bestie started his own blog, He is seriously one of the funniest kindest people I have ever met and has a serious way with words...Gets me through college work :) He's feeling a little ill at the moment, stuck in with a throat infection, poor dear. Small Mac Haul & Chitchat - college, X factor...

Hey Guys,

I'm procrastinating writing this college report, the title

is a paragraph long! Its something to do with how personal and professional

development affect an organization...I know what to write, I just don't know where to start. Facebook is nice though, my homepage is full of comments from classmates giving out about this assignment, its nice to know your not the only one :)

This weekend I haven't done much, Girls night in making cookies (nom nom nom!)

on friday and spent saturday in front of a blank word document titled "personal development" and my name...on the upside, my wardrobe is organized, my room is clean, the bathrooms are clean...I did anything to get out of writing that report! Unfortunately now I've to spend the day writing it so that probably wasn't the smartest idea!

X-Factor later, I hate to say it but I quite liked Katie!

I'm kind of getting bored with it now though, their all good,

but their's no one amazing, they all sound just like they did the week before.

Obviously though, being Irish, I'm backing Mary!

There's an irish bloke in One Direction too...but I think they'l do well enough

even if they don't win. Who do you think will be out tonight?

I went shopping the other day, picked up a few nice clothes

which I was going to show you, but figured I'd be wearing them for OOTD's

so I can show you then :) I also got a few bits in MAC...

Heard that these two eyeshadows are a must!

I've been really into neutrals lately so I've been wearing

a lot of browns, greys, blacks, bronzes etc.

So I know I'll get a lot of wear out of these,

can't wait to try Shroom with a bit of All That Glitters in the crease

and some liner, think it will make my eyes pop.

I also picked up an eyeshadow set from the holiday collection - A Tartan Tale.

I love purple eyeshadows so I got this one, has some pretty deep purples which are perfect for winter, and how adorable is the packaging? :)

Hair Scare - the last year!

I combed through my wet hair with a wide tooth comb.

I throw a hair treatment on and look down to the floor, so much hair!!!

My hairdresser said my hair was in good condition for being

both blonde and curly, but it wasn't growing at all!!

So I decided to dye it brown, thinking

"well I won't be putting more blonde on it, it will have time to get back healthy!"

Eh, how wrong was I,

now, not only is it not growing, it's falling out and getting shorter :(

I use a hair treatment every week,
Wash my hair once/twice a week
(because it's super curly & therefore very dry)
I blow dry & straighten it once a week
and run over it with a hair straightner during the week when needed...
Which I don't think is a lot, I used to use it more :/
I was very stressed last year, up until mid-summer,
could that stress now be affecting me?

Anyone got any advice?
or know anything that will help?
I'm going to try not use heat at all,
but I hate wearing my hair curly when it's this short!

Every Monday I get asked if I've gotten in cut again :(

My college friends and I went out wednesday of the midterm

for halloween, what a great night!! So on halloween night,

we took a Cinema trip, we went to see Paranormal activity 2,

which I thought was pretty boring! It was good, but

EOTD - You dont need tools

So my appointment for the hair dressers was 9:30,

I got up, got ready and was about to do my makeup when I realized

my sigma makeup brushes were still damp from being washed.

So I used the other gift god gave me, my fingers!

I used Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland Pallette.

I think it turned out quite well

I first smudged 24/7 liner into my lash line,

Used my finger to apply mushroom to my lid,

I then applied drink me eat me to the crease

and the inner third of my lid.

Unfortunately I haven't had time to transfer stuff from my laptop

onto it so at the moment everything is very unorganized and between the two!

Another new thing, is my schedule, being a full time honours degree student

and a part time worker, doesn't leave a lot of time for blogging.

I feel like it's a case of mommy has a new baby and the first born feels left out.

I have a blog which gets marked as part of my course which I have to keep

up to date, its very hard to do assignments and blog, work, go to college and then come

home and try post something here, I miss it very much and I hope once I get into the swing of things

I'll be back posting and commenting on all your blogs. I do pop by every now and again

so even if you don't hear from me, I have been reading and watching :)

Hey Everyone,

How are you all?

Gosh I feel like I'm only back and

I disappear again. My charger for

my laptop died so I've been waiting

for my new charger, it finally arrived :)

You don't realize how much you use your laptop

until it's taken away from you. Anyways, what have I been

up to, I started college and I love it.

I am now a creative digital media student,

so far so good!! We're having so much fun

and my class is just lovely.

I've been taken pictures and filming OOTD's

so look out for them, I'll be uploading them over the next few

days, until then enjoy the tutorial below!

I was sent the Rhassoul mineral waschcreme, the

coleur eye shadow duo in smoke and they also threw in

Sanddorn Hautol Skin oil, Sanddorn Handcreme and a few samples

 of the Sanddorn creams.

Rhassoul Mineral Waschcreme

"The alva Rhassoul range was developed primarily to cleanse

problem skin. the ingredients are balanced to promote the

 effective cleasing of blemised or combination skin that tends

to become oily quickly...."

 The  Rhassoul Mineral Waschcreme is a clay,

the colour and smell is a little off putting but obviously

it's what you expect clay to look and smell like.

When I put it on my face, it smelled very clean!

I felt it slightly harden, especially around the mouth

which tingled a little. I have the most impurities around

that area so it felt like my skin was being cleaned, then I

could feel it down my chin and my nose. It looked amazing,

I could see in sinking into my pores and I could feel a light gentle tingle. 

Once I washed it off, my skin felt soft, fresh, awake and very clean.

My skin looked brighter, slightly less blotchy. I was definitely impressed with the first use...

I continued using it every morning and

a week later, HELLO! BREAKOUT!

the worst I've had in so long, I hadn't changed

my routine in any other way and Aunt Flo wasn't in town

so it had to be this product. I decided right I can either stop using it

or I can keep using it and see what happens, I knew it

obviously worked because my skin breaking out was really

just it getting rid of all the junk and impurities.

So I continued using it, but only every second or third day.

I've seen great results, my skin
looks a lot better...which is saying something
after how many months of slapping on fake tan,
make up and whatever else!?


I would definitely recommend this
if you have oily skin or
if you just want a good ole cleaning :)

So the next product I am just in LOVE
with! Its the eye shadow duo in smoke.
 The colours are really pigmented which you can
see below, very blend-able and easy to work with.

It's the quickest easiest way to a smokey eye.
There's a creamy white and a black with flex of silver/gold
I can't quite tell, but its not like glitter on your eye.
If that makes sense? The picture below might
help with that explanation...

I've been using this so much lately
and It's going to be in a few face of the day posts
I have coming up.

My name is Ellie & I am a Tanoholic

Hey Beauts,

Being Irish and all

I am fairly pale

That's not my problem though,

I mean look at these beauties

My problem is my uneven skin tone,

blotchy red patches and being unable to match

any foundation!!!

Enter my many tanning products!

I had a system last summer

which I must get back to now

(eh, Ellie its July 19th, summers almost over)

*giggles*

I'm gonna do a quick run through of what I use,

how and when I use it :)

So first things first,

Exfoliate!

It will make your skin super soft and prevent

the tan from darkening in certain areas (ankles,

elbows, knees etc)

I use a little bit of this mixed with my shower gel

of the moment, its quite thick that's why I mix it.

It is Marks & Spencers Sun Formula Pre Tan Exfoliator.

"Gently exfoliating action smooths and brightens your skin, whilst

a moisturizing complex helps enrich and smooth, skin is then fully prepared

for an even self tan" It also says that you do not need to moisturise

after using this prior to tanning! I love this, it preps my skin perfectly

before I tan, I've been using it for a good while and I would

defiantly repurchase :)

My Favourite tanning product is L'Oreal

Sublime Bronze Gel

I cannot even estimate how many bottles

of this I have gone through! I've been using it

since it first hit the shops and it's the product I always go back to.

"Non-Sticky. Quick Dry. Even Result, 100% Natural-looking tan"

It is a little sticky, but all tan's are! But it really does give a even natural

result. I have been complimented on my colour so many times

using this product. People always comment on how natural it looks.

If I'm going out, I apply it every day/night for 2/3 days beforehand.

I just squeeze a dollop out and rub it in using my hands. For my face, I squeeze it onto

my finger along with some moisturizer and apply it in circular motions, down my neck.

Then I go around my hairline, rubbing it into my scalp a little so the colour

doesn't gather and turn orange. This is actually very simple but difficult to explain

so I might do a quick video tutorial just showing you how to apply

it to your face because I know all my friends have problems with this.

The colour payoff is quite good, I put it on usually 20mins

before I hop into bed and by morning you can notice a slight change.

I've noticed it sometimes looking darker then the next evening

so it must take 24hrs to fully develop.

I usually like 2 or 3 coats of this, if I'm going out, but sometimes if

I've only done one layer I will use another product below.

So this product is from Primark, its only €2.
It has a creamy consistency and smells delish.

"Developed to give an even and beautifully sun-kissed tan for face and body.

Easily absorbed, tan will usually begin to appear and develop after 2-4hours"

I use this after a shower every couple of days,

I haven't really experimented with the colour pay off.

But I do like the light glow I get after 1 application.

Love this for those days when I'm not bothered tanning

but I need something to take the blotchy-ness out of my skin colour.

So this product is my favourite gradual tanner out of what I've tried

It's Garnier SummerBody Moisturising lotion SunKissed Look

"Soft, Radiant looking skin all year round. Gradually builds a light, natural looking tan"

This does not work for me by itself, but I do sometimes apply it

on day 3 & 4 over L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Gel.

It helps to keep the colour last a little longer.

I like this because it's moisturising but not as sticky as some other

products I've tried like the Johnsons Holiday Skin

Although they have been altered since I tried it, so it might be better now.

The Garnier SummerBody Moisturising lotion can be a little watery

but I kind of like that, its tends to dry quicker. The smell is quite nice too.

So something I recently bought was the St. Moriz

This is the instant self tanning mousse. I apply it using

that filthy mitt that you see above. It gives a great colour

and I usually don't use an instant tanning mousse directly on pale skin because

I think it just looks shimmery and not like tan,

I usually apply it over the gel or wipes,

but it gave me a great colour, looked pretty natural. I haven't quite made

up my mind about this product. When I apply it

it seems to dry quite fast meaning I have to blend

and work it into my skin quickly. Although when you apply it

and leave it a couple of hours to develop (4-6hrs) and then shower

it does give you a gorgeous natural tan.

It was under €5 though so I think this is something

I will invest in again, its handy to have and I do find myself

reaching for it a lot.

These are the type of life savers I just love

The two above are sprays, I've gone through

bottles of these and I don't see any difference

between the brands so I just pick up whatever is on offer.

I spray directly onto the area and then use a mitt to work it in.

These are amazing for tanning mishaps and give you a flawless

look. Some of them (like the one on the right) cover bruises

and marks, like foundation for your legs.

Next onto mousse tans

These are like the St.Moriz but I find them a little more blendable

and a little more shimmer than tan. They look prettiest

over a light tan colour. Good for nights out

I also use these over my tan to give me a healthy fresh glow.

I like how they make my tan kind of glisten!

And lastly, good ole wipes!

These are really inexpensive and I think Primark have the best deal on them.

These are pretty great if used right. I tend to only use them

for my lower body and stomach. They give a good tan and drys in 5-10mins

without feeling sticky or anything. I use one on each leg and then use it to do my tummy area.

I just wipe over the entire leg & foot and then use my hand to work the colour into my knees just to even it out.I love to apply this at night and then hop

into bed without feeling like I cant move because I might smudge my tan

haha The only downside is they do tend to smell, but a quick shower

and that's a-okay!

Tanning Hands?

This is a problem I think I've only had once,
where your hands are either left white or orange.
My tip? Apply a little dot of tan to the back of your hand,

like you would foundation, then apply a dot of
hand cream. Rub the back of hands together and blend it
up into the arm area. Then rub hands together as if you were just
rubbing in your hand moisturiser. Leave to dry and develop,
I usually do it before bed so I don't use my hands or
wash them or anything for a couple of hours.

Et Voilà, hands that match the
rest of you that look natural :)

Konad Daisy Nails

Hey Dolls,

I can't remember how

many years ago it was

that I was at a show in the RDS

and a girl asked if she could do my nails

"Of Course!" was my response...

She took out really thick nail varnish, a scraper,

a thingy magig and these little plates,

asked me to pink a colour...Pink of course hehe

Hmm...So this was Konad!?

They were only starting out,

I got the started kit.

The next year, they were there again

with deals on Polish...

Yep! I know, its a lot.

I pretty much forgot about it

until YouTube! It was huge,

there are loads of video's about it

I figured I'd give it another go

so onto the point of the post...

Customising T-Shirts - 4 ways!

Round 1 - Off the shoulder!

As you can see it is a wide neck but not wide enough

to fall over my shoulders. Follow these steps;

Put on the tshirt and determine how wide you need the space.

Mark it with a pen.

And Simply cut from one side to the other.

Tip: Stay near the rim at the chest, avoiding cutting

too low down the t-shirt.

Result :)

Round 2 -Ripped Back!

Fold tshirt half way, using the seems to help.

This will mean the slits are even and in the middle

Place tshirt on a flat hard surface,

making sure the tshirt isn't folded over...

See, like this :)

I moved the middle part out of the way

Cut slit one and continue

until you get where you want

it to end, I usually go for longer slits

at the the top and smaller and the bottom

Resulting in this

Round 3 - Braided

I cut the slits bigger for this

This is what we're going for,

explaining this is a little difficult so I

will also post a video for single and double

braiding at the end of this post for you all :)

Take slit 1 and pull it up and over slit 2.

Lifting slit 2 up and over slit 3, and so on.

When you get to the bottom, pin it and sew.

(You can also cut it and tie, but I suggest sewing it)

Round 4 - Double Braid

To do a double braid, you simply re-do

round 3 :) it gives you an effect like so...

Today I'm going to talk about foods that

make you feel better, I'm one of those girls

that if I have a headache, I'd prefer a nap and a glass

of water than a tablet. Don't get me wrong, I reach for

Nurofen if a nap doesn't work, but as a last resort.

So want to know what foods do what?

Stressed?

When we're stressed, we often grab those comfort foods.

Well, there not going to work!

Introduce foods high in Omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon,

into your meals 2/3 times a week.

Guacamole made with fresh avocados and natural ingredients

will help to relax you. Avocados contain healthy fats

and B vitamins, Giving you an energy boost.

Oatmeal will slow down your stress response

and help ease frazzled nerves.

Blueberries are high in Vitamin C and Fiber. Both

will help reduce stress, Fiber helps regulate blood sugar levels,

Brown Rice and whole grains contain a lot of Fiber.

Oranges, Vitamin C protect the body againest the effects of stress

Green vegetables in particular contain potassium which are good for calming nerves

Chop on frozen berries to give your jaw a workout

which will help relieve stress

Sad?

Stock up on foods with Essential Fatty Acids

Fatty Fish such as tuna, herring and mackerel are known for their EFA's.

Sprinkle Flaxseeds on cereals or salads or add it to a smoothie.

Carbohydrates in turkey, whole wheat bread, brown rice, fruits (especially Apricots) and veg, help

to raise serotonin levels which helps lift your mood

Leafy Greens are rich sources of Vitamin B,

helping our Feel-Good Hormones.

Avoid sweet simple carbs like white bread,

a sugar crash will make you feel worse.

Low Energy?

Any foods rich in carbs will

boost your energy levels, but some of the best

are whole grain cereals, pasta, rice, bread.

Veg such as lettuce and other leafy greens

also provide energy boosting nutrients.

Carrots will help to reduce the feeling of

tirdness and sluggishness as they help to stabilise

blood sugar levels.

For a quick snack, raisins and bananas

provide potassium, which your body uses to convert sugar to energy.

Oranges are full of vitamins and natural sugars,

therefore boosting energy levels.

Increasing Metabolism?

Starting the day with a protein rich breakfast

will help keep your natural fat burning machine going.

Scrambles eggs, lean beef, chicken and fish are high

protein foods.

Chilli and other spices can jump start your system

Catechins, found in Green Tea, are known to

boost metabolism.

Avoid Skipping meals, not eating for long periods

of time will slow down your metabolism.

Needing Sleep?

Theres a reason everyone feels sleepy

after a Christmas Dinner. Turkey contains the

amino acid called tryptophan which helps promote

ralaxation in your body.

Surprizingly, Potassium and Magnesium are natural muscle

relaxants. Bananas are a good sourse of both.

Cherries are rich in Vitamins and they contain

Melatonin, which helps regulate sleep.

A glass of milk might actually be keeping you up,

as protein boosts alertness. Unless its skimmed, the fat

in the milk slows down digestion.

Brain Boosting?

Fish is one of the best known brain foods.

Antioxidant rich foods such as prunes, raisins, blackberries,

garlic and cranberries will all help.

Fibre in your diet will also help,

toxic build-up in your body can "fog"

your brain.

Hangover?

Regreting last order? you mightn't be if you ordered

a Sex on the Beach or a Wake up Call.

Fructose, a sugar in Orange Juice, can speed up

the metabolism of alcohol by up to 25%.

A full Irish breaky is needed the morning after.

Or at least try keep the Eggs and Bacon down.

Egg yolks contain cysteine, helping your liver to recover. It also

cleans up a toxin responsible for the hungover feeling.

Bacon is high in protein, breaking down to amino acids

that are important for recovery and improve

the brains preformance.

Toast will raise blood sugar levels, diluting the alcohol

in the blood, making you feel more awake.

Bananas will replace the postassium and magnesium

that are lost due to alcohol.

Plenty of water is a must to flush out

toxins in your body
